Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 cups soft margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. Cream the margarine until smooth, then add sugar and vanilla, mixing well.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating until light and fluffy.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix well.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and then roll each ball in sugar.
  7. Place the coated dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until cookies are set.
