Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together the softened butter, vanilla extract, and sugar.
  3. Add the eggs and milk to the creamed mixture and beat until thoroughly blended.
  4. Add the reserved flour mixture to the wet ingredients, scraping the sides of the bowl to incorporate.
  5. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a flat disk.
  6. Wrap each dough disk in plastic wrap and chill until firm.
