Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 medium potatoes, pared and chopped
  • 1 small cabbage, shredded
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • dash of red pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Form the hamburger and chopped onion into a round ball; brown slowly and carefully in a Dutch oven or 10-inch skillet.
  2. Cover and surround the browned hamburger and onion mixture first with potato pieces, then with shredded cabbage.
  3. Mix the can of tomato soup with an equal amount of water; pour over the cabbage.
  4. Add a dash of red pepper, if you wish.
  5. Simmer over low heat for 30 to 45 minutes.
