Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage, chopped fine
  • 3/4 stick margarine or butter
  • 1 onion, chopped fine
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 lb Velveeta cheese
  • Italian style bread crumbs
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Boil chopped cabbage in salted water until very tender.
  2. Wilt chopped onion in butter in a skillet.
  3. Add chunks of Velveeta cheese to the onion and melt over low heat.
  4. Stir in cream of mushroom soup into the cheese mixture.
  5. Combine the cabbage with the cheese mixture and mix well.
  6. Season with salt and red pepper to taste.
  7. Transfer the mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish.
  8. Sprinkle Italian style bread crumbs on top.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 30 minutes until hot and bubbly.
