Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb bacon slices
  • 1 1/2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 c finely chopped onion
  • 1 c finely chopped celery
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 2/3 c boiling water
  • 3 lb ground beef
  • 1 1/2 c catsup
  • 3 tbsp prepared mustard
  • 2 - 29 oz cans molasses style baked beans

Instructions

  1. Fry bacon until crisp, then drain and set aside.
  2. Cook ground beef, onions, and celery in a large skillet until the meat is browned and the onions are tender; drain off excess fat.
  3. Dissolve beef bouillon cubes in boiling water.
  4. In a large Dutch oven or crock pot, combine cooked beef mixture, bacon, chopped onion, chopped celery, salt, dissolved bouillon, catsup, prepared mustard, and baked beans.
  5. Mix thoroughly and simmer until flavors meld, about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  6. Crumble bacon over the beans before serving.
