Ingredients

  • 5 to 5 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 packages Rapid Rise yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 (8 oz.) package chopped dates
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Heat 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup milk, and 1/2 cup butter until very warm (125° to 130°F).
  3. Stir the warm liquids into the dry ingredients.
  4. Mix in eggs and enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  5. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 4 to 6 minutes.
  6. Cover the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.
