Ingredients

  • oil (for frying)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 to 3 inches of oil in a deep pan to 375°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Stir in milk, oil, vanilla, and egg with a fork until just moistened.
  4. Drop teaspoonfuls of batter into hot oil, 5 to 6 at a time.
  5. Fry for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Drain on paper towels before serving.
