Ingredients

  • 2 pkg dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water (105° to 115°F)
  • 1 cup warm milk (105° to 115°F)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 3 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl.
  2. Add milk, butter, 2 1/4 cups flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Stir with a wooden spoon until smooth.
  3. Add remaining 1 cup flour and raisins. Stir vigorously 30 strokes or until the flour is mixed in. Batter will be stiff and sticky.
  4. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 10 to 15 minutes).
  5. Place batter in a well-greased loaf pan. Spread evenly.
  6. Bake at 375°F for 35 to 40 minutes.
  7. Remove from pan immediately and cool on a rack.
