Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup Crisco
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift dry ingredients; add Crisco and 3/4 cup milk and beat for 2 minutes.
  2. Add baking powder and mix well.
  3. Add 1/2 cup milk, vanilla, and eggs; beat for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour batter into a 350°F oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
