Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk and stir in sugar, salt, and shortening. Cool to lukewarm.
  2. Sprinkle yeast into warm water and stir to dissolve.
  3. Add the milk mixture, eggs, and 3 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Beat until smooth.
