Ingredients

  • 2 lb. round steak
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, undrained
  • 1 c. sour cream

Instructions

  1. Cut the round steak into thin strips.
  2. Dredge the steak strips in flour.
  3. Brown the floured steak with chopped onions in butter.
  4. Add salt, pepper, and water; cover and simmer gently until the beef is almost tender, about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add condensed cream of mushroom soup and undrained mushrooms; stir to combine.
  6. Cook gently until the beef is tender, about 30 minutes.
  7. At serving time, heat the mixture piping hot and stir in sour cream.
  8. Serve over noodles or rice.
