Ingredients

  • 2 lb hamburger
  • 1 small can tomato juice (No. 2 can)
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp catsup
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 medium onions
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 small can tomato puree
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp barbecue sauce
  • pinch salt
  • garlic (optional)

Instructions

  1. Fry the hamburger and onions together in a skillet.
  2. Drain the hamburger and onions to remove excess fat.
  3. In a large kettle, mix together sugar, vinegar, tomato juice, tomato puree, chili powder, pepper, catsup, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic salt.
  4. Add the cooked hamburger and onions to the sauce mixture.
  5. Add salt to taste.
  6. Simmer over low heat for 1 hour.
  7. Cool the mixture and then run it through a meat grinder.
  8. This recipe yields approximately 8 or 9 Coneys per pint.
