Instructions
- Mix sugar, margarine, milk, baking powder, salt, and flour until smooth.
- Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch casserole dish.
- Spread drained cherries evenly on top of the batter; dot with margarine and sprinkle with 1 cup sugar.
- Pour boiling water over the entire mixture.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 35 minutes.
- Cherries will sink to the bottom and form a sauce during baking.
- Serve warm with ice cream.
