Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup canned or stewed tomatoes or tomato paste
  • whole kernel corn
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp chili sauce
  • 1 (15 oz) can red kidney beans
  • cornbread batter

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, chopped onion, sugar, and chili sauce and saute in butter until the meat changes color.
  2. Add canned tomatoes and drained beans, then simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Place the meat mixture in a greased 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  4. Spread the cornbread batter evenly on top of the meat mixture.
  5. Bake at 425°F for 25 minutes or until the top is browned.
