Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 4 cups crumbled homemade cornbread
  • 4 cups stale bread, cubed
  • pinch dried ground sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt butter over low heat in a large saute pan.
  2. Add the chopped onion and celery and saute until soft, approximately 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the crumbled cornbread and stale bread cubes, continue cooking until golden brown.
  4. Add dried ground sage, dried thyme, poultry seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Slowly stir in stock until the stuffing reaches your preferred consistency.
