Ingredients

  • 5 oz. egg noodles
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 3/4 cup grated cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions.
  2. Drain and rinse the noodles; set aside.
  3. Saute ground beef in a skillet until browned; drain excess fat.
  4. Add tomato sauce, salt, garlic salt, and pepper to the beef; simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine cottage cheese, sour cream, and chopped onions.
  6. Spray a 2-quart round casserole dish with cooking spray or Pam.
  7. Layer half of the noodles mixture in the bottom of the casserole dish.
  8. Top with half of the meat mixture over the noodles.
  9. Repeat layering with remaining noodles and meat mixtures.
  10. Sprinkle grated cheese evenly over the top.
  11. Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 days if preparing ahead.
  12. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes until hot and bubbly.
