Ingredients

  • 12 slices bread, crust removed
  • 6 slices cheese
  • 2 cups crabmeat
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Place 6 slices of bread in the bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. Layer slices of cheese on top of the bread, spread with crabmeat, and sprinkle with chopped onion.
  3. Beat eggs, milk, salt, and pepper together until well combined.
  4. Place the remaining 6 slices of bread on top of the crabmeat mixture, like a sandwich.
  5. Pour the egg and milk mixture evenly over the layered bread and crabmeat.
  6. Ensure the bread is thoroughly moistened with the mixture.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours or more.
  8. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 30 minutes until browned and puffy.
