Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb. beef fat
  • 1/2 lb. celery, sliced
  • 1/2 lb. onion, sliced
  • 3/4 Tbsp. garlic salt
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 Tbsp. thyme
  • 3/4 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 (10 oz.) can tomato puree
  • 1/2 lb. green peppers, sliced
  • 1 1/2 c. fish broth
  • 1/4 c. cornstarch
  • 1/4 pt. red Burgundy
  • 1/4 Tbsp. Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 lb. cooked cod

Instructions

  1. Melt the beef fat in a large pot.
  2. Add sliced celery and onions, and sauté on medium heat for 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic salt, black pepper, thyme, salt, and sugar; mix well.
  4. Pour in the tomato puree and add sliced green peppers and fish broth.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. Dissolve the cornstarch in red Burgundy until smooth.
  7. Add the cornstarch mixture to the sauce and bring to a boil again.
  8. Add Tabasco sauce and simmer the sauce for 20 minutes.
  9. Add cooked cod and shrimp to the sauce and cook until hot.
