Crispy Taco Turnovers

- Brown ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic in a heavy frying pan.
- Add salt and chili powder, and blend well.
- Place 1/2 cup of the beef filling, 1/2 cup cheese, and 1/2 cup diced tomatoes onto one-half of each tortilla.
- Fold the other half over the filling, pressing it down to remove any air pockets.
- Pour oil into a large skillet to a 1/4-inch depth and heat until hot.
- Place the filled tortillas into the hot oil a few at a time.
- Saute over medium to high heat until golden on each side, about 45 seconds per side.
- Remove from the pan onto paper towels to drain.
- Cut into wedges and serve.
