Ingredients

  • 20 oz. frozen broccoli flowerets
  • 20 oz. frozen cauliflower flowerets
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 3 c. milk
  • 6 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. chopped ham
  • 3 c. fresh bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Cook the frozen broccoli and cauliflower in slightly salted water until slightly underdone.
  2. Drain the vegetables and set aside.
  3. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a 1-quart saucepan and add the flour, blending well.
  4. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add the shredded Cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and salt to the sauce, stirring over low heat until the cheese melts.
  6. Place the cooked vegetables in an ungreased 4-quart casserole dish.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped ham over the vegetables.
  8. Pour the cheese sauce over the ham and vegetables.
  9. Toss the bread crumbs with the remaining melted butter.
  10. Make a border of buttered bread crumbs around the edge of the casserole.
  11. Bake uncovered at 350°F for 30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
