Tips & Substitutions

To enhance the flavor, consider adding garlic or herbs like thyme or rosemary to the mixture. If you don't have cashews, almonds or pecans can be good substitutes. Storage & Reheating

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use rotisserie chicken for this recipe?

Absolutely! Using rotisserie chicken is a great time-saver and adds extra flavor. Just shred the chicken and mix it in with the other ingredients as directed. It will still yield a delicious casserole with minimal prep work.

What can I substitute for chow mein noodles?

If you can't find chow mein noodles, you can substitute with crispy fried onions, crushed crackers, or even cooked rice for a different texture. Each option will bring a unique twist to the casserole while maintaining its crunchy topping.

Can I make this casserole ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the casserole a day in advance. Assemble it up to the baking stage, cover tightly, and refrigerate. When ready to bake, allow it to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before baking. This ensures even cooking.
