- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Place butter in a 9-inch skillet and heat in the oven until melted.
- In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- Add eggs, one cup of milk, and buttermilk to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the hot skillet with melted butter.
- Very slowly pour the remaining cup of milk over the top of the batter without stirring.
- Bake for 50 to 55 minutes until golden and cooked through.
