Date And Oat Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp all spice
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pitted dates
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 9 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 None large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a 4 x 8 inch loaf pan with oil and line with baking paper.
  2. Sift together flour and all spice into a large bowl. Stir in brown sugar, dates and all but 2 tbsp of the oats.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together butter, milk and eggs. Lightly mix into flour mixture until well combined.
  4. Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle with remaining oats. Bake for 50-55 mins, until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean and dry.
  5. Allow to cool in the pan for 5 mins. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and spread with butter.
