Ingredients

  • 10 slices white bread
  • butter
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 9 eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 cups grated Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  2. Place one slice on top of the buttered side to make a sandwich. Remove the crusts and cut into fourths.
  3. Cover the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan with the buttered bread sandwiches.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and dry mustard.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread in the pan.
  6. Sprinkle grated Cheddar cheese over the top and crumble cooked sausage evenly across.
  7. Refrigerate the assembled casserole overnight.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until set.
