- Seed and cut the dates.
- Break the nuts into large pieces.
- In a large container, combine the dates and nuts with the flour and mix well.
- Cream the butter and gradually add the sugar until well blended.
- Add cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg to the mixture.
- Beat the eggs slightly and blend them into the mixture.
- Dissolve the soda in hot water and pour over the date and nut mixture.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350°F until golden brown.
