Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup prunes, cooked and cut in pieces
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add sugar and oil to the eggs and beat well until combined.
  3. Mix dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt) in a separate bowl.
  4. Alternate adding the dry mixture and buttermilk to the egg mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in chopped nuts, cooked prunes, and vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and poke holes all over the cake with a fork.
  8. Pour the hot topping over the cake and spread evenly.
