A hearty and savory steak dish featuring tender cube steaks simmered with onions, mushrooms, and a rich bouillon gravy, perfect for comforting family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 8 small cube steaks
  • 5 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 large onions, sliced and separated into rings
  • 1 c. sliced fresh or canned mushrooms
  • 1 c. beef bouillon

Instructions

  1. Mix together flour and salt. Rub 3 tablespoons of the flour mixture into the steaks.
  2. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a skillet.
  3. Add the steaks and brown them on both sides.
  4. Place the browned steaks into a medium-sized baking dish. Add sliced onions and brown lightly; spoon over the meat.
  5. Melt the remaining butter in the skillet.
  6. Add sliced mushrooms and brown them, stirring in the remaining flour, beef bouillon, and cream. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  7. Add olives to the mushroom mixture.
  8. Spoon the mushroom mixture over the meat in the baking dish.
  9. Cover and bake at 325°F for 1.5 hours or until the meat is tender.
