Tips & Substitutions

For a slightly milder flavor, you can substitute half of the sauerkraut with shredded cabbage. If you prefer a sweeter dressing, increase the sugar to three-quarters of a cup. Ensure the vinegar mixture is boiling before adding it to the sauerkraut to enhance the flavors. This salad can be made a day in advance for the best taste, allowing the ingredients to meld together.
