Devon’s Cabbage Rolls feature tender cabbage leaves filled with a savory beef and vegetable mixture, simmered in tomato sauce for a hearty, family-friendly meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 yellow squash, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 can whole tomatoes
  • 1 large (32 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 4 shakes seasoned salt

Instructions

  1. Boil the whole head of cabbage until the leaves begin to fall off or peel away easily.
  2. Remove the cabbage from the water, let it drain, and separate the leaves. Retain the water for later use.
  3. Mix the ground beef, finely chopped onion, yellow squash, bell pepper, canned whole tomatoes, seasoned salt, and spaghetti sauce together in a bowl.
  4. Place a tablespoon or more of the mixture in each cabbage leaf and roll up, securing with a toothpick or string.
  5. Drop the cabbage rolls into the pot of retained water and bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour or until the rolls are cooked through.
