Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon dill seed
  • 1 cup creamed cottage cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion

Instructions

  1. Soften the yeast in warm water.
  2. Add cottage cheese, minced onion, butter, dill seed, salt, soda, and egg to the yeast mixture.
  3. Add flour gradually, beating after the first addition on low speed.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Stir the dough down.
  6. Turn the dough into a well-greased casserole dish.
  7. Let the dough rise for an additional 40 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 to 50 minutes.
  9. Brush the baked bread with butter and sprinkle with salt before serving.
