Ingredients

  • 2 lb. hamburger
  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 3 slices bread, torn into crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • dried dill weed
  • 3 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 8 oz. sour cream

Instructions

  1. Mix hamburger, minced onion, torn bread crumbs, salt, pepper, 1 teaspoon dill, and 2 tablespoons water in a bowl.
  2. Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  3. In a 12-inch skillet, heat salad oil over medium heat and brown the meatballs, half at a time. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet drippings, stir in flour and 1 teaspoon dill.
  5. Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly, and bring to a boil.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet and bring to a boil again.
  7. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  8. Skim off any fat from the surface.
  9. Stir in sour cream and heat through without boiling.
  10. Serve the meatballs and sauce over rice.
