  8. When ready to bake, punch down the dough.
  9. Divide the dough into rolls about the size of golf balls and let them rise in a warm place for 1 1/2 hours.
  10. Grease baking pans while preparing the rolls.
  11. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Tips & Substitutions

For best results, ensure your water is warm but not hot, as too much heat can kill the yeast. You can substitute the salad oil with melted butter for richer flavor. If your dough is too sticky, add a little more flour gradually. For a sweeter touch, consider brushing the rolls with melted butter mixed with a sprinkle of sugar before baking.

Serving Suggestions

These dinner rolls are perfect for family dinners and pair beautifully with Old-Fashion Caramel Corn or Coleslaw With Fruit Cocktail. Serve them warm with butter, or use them to soak up savory gravies and sauces. They also make excellent sandwich bases for leftovers or spreads.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover dinner rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze them in a zip-top bag for up to 3 months. To reheat, wrap them in aluminum foil and place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes until warm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use instant yeast instead of active dry yeast?

Yes, you can substitute instant yeast for active dry yeast; just use the same amount. There's no need to dissolve instant yeast in water beforehand, making your preparation quicker.

What if my dough doesn't rise?

If your dough doesn't rise, it might be due to inactive yeast. Ensure your yeast is fresh and the water temperature is warm enough. If it's too cold or too hot, the yeast won't activate properly.

Can I make the dough ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can prepare the dough and refrigerate it overnight. This slow fermentation enhances flavor. Just let it come to room temperature and rise before shaping and baking.
