Do Ahead Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut and drained
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 8 oz. lasagna noodles
  • 8 oz. Mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1 1/2 c. (12 oz.) creamed small curd cottage cheese
  • 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in large frypan; drain fat.
  2. Stir tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, oregano and pepper into ground beef.
  3. Heat to boiling.
  4. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
  5. Cook lasagna noodles; drain well.
  6. Alternate layers of noodles, Mozzarella cheese, cottage cheese, meat sauce and Parmesan cheese in ungreased 11 x 7-inch pan or 9-inch square pan.
  7. Cover and refrigerate.
  8. Bake, uncovered, at 350° until hot and bubbly, about 40 minutes.
  9. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Makes 6 servings.
