Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 29 oz. tomato sauce
  • 29 oz. kidney beans with liquid
  • 1 c. onion diced
  • 2 green chilies diced
  • 1 stalk celery diced
  • 3 medium tomatoes chopped
  • 2 tsp. cumin powder
  • 3 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. water
  • 8 oz. cheese shredded (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat.
  2. Drain off the fat.
  3. Using a fork, crumble the cooked beef into pea-sized pieces.
  4. Combine the beef with tomato sauce, kidney beans, diced onion, diced green chilies, diced celery, chopped tomatoes, cumin powder, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and water in a large pot.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Optional: Top with shredded cheese before serving.
