Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 2 sticks oleo
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift into a large bowl the sugar and plain flour.
  2. Bring the oleo, cocoa, and water to a boil in a pan.
  3. Pour the boiled mixture over the dry ingredients and stir well.
  4. Add buttermilk, salt, beaten eggs, soda, and vanilla to the mixture.
  5. Mix well and pour into a sheet cake pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
