Ingredients

  • 2 cups stale bread (yeast bread or corn bread)
  • celery seed or leaves to taste
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • dash of powdered sage
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Season the bread mixture to taste with salt, pepper, sage, and celery.
  2. Mix the ingredients well.
  3. Add the melted butter to the mixture.
  4. Moisten with water, milk, or broth from cooked fowl as needed.
  5. Oysters may be added if desired.
  6. Put the mixture into a pan and bake in a moderate oven at 350°F for approximately 30 minutes.
