Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup corn
  • 1 1/2 cups potatoes
  • 1 pint stewed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons bacon fat or butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 quart boiling water
  • 1 pint green lima beans
  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 onions
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. In a cooking pot, melt the bacon fat or butter and add minced onions and minced green pepper, cooking for 1 minute.
  2. Add the corn, lima beans, and diced potatoes, then pour in 1 quart of boiling water.
  3. Cook until the potatoes and beans are tender.
  4. Stir in the sugar, stewed tomatoes, salt, and pepper.
  5. Serve hot, optionally with dumplings.
