Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. (1/4 lb.) soft butter
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3/4 c. milk, scalded and cooled
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. chopped pecans
  • Powdered Sugar Glaze

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle yeast into warm water and let stand until dissolved.
  2. With an electric mixer, cream the butter until light and beat in sugar.
  3. Beat in egg yolks, then add yeast mixture, milk, salt, and ground cardamom.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour, beating at low speed or by hand.
  5. Turn out the dough on a floured board and knead until smooth.
  6. Return the dough to the bowl and lightly butter the top.
  7. Cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 1/2 hours.
