Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups cold unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
  • 2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Cream butter in a bowl.
  2. Gradually add sugar and beat until well combined.
  3. Set aside the mixture.
  4. Mix baking soda with cold applesauce until blended.
  5. Add the applesauce mixture to the butter and sugar mixture and combine.
  6. Add raisins, cinnamon, cloves, and flour to the mixture and stir well.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
  8. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
