Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 c. water

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, flour, and cocoa in a large bowl.
  2. Melt shortening and oleo in a saucepan.
  3. Add water to the melted mixture and bring to a boil.
  4. Pour the boiled mixture over the dry ingredients.
  5. Add buttermilk, baking soda, beaten eggs, vanilla, and salt to the bowl.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Bake for 35 minutes at 400°F.
