Frequently Asked Questions

Can I prepare this casserole ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the casserole the night before and refrigerate it overnight. This allows the flavors to meld together. Just remember to bake it the next day, adjusting the baking time as needed if it's coming straight from the fridge.

What can I use instead of mushroom soup?

If you prefer not to use mushroom soup, you can substitute it with a homemade cream sauce or a can of cream of chicken soup. Alternatively, a mixture of sour cream and milk can also work well to create a creamy topping for the casserole.

Can I make this dish vegetarian?

Absolutely! Substitute the sausage with a plant-based sausage or a mixture of sautéed mushrooms and spinach for a delicious vegetarian option. You can also use egg substitutes if you're looking for a completely egg-free dish.
