Ingredients

  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 1/2 c. raisins
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. soda

Instructions

  1. Cook together brown sugar, water, raisins, and oil until it bubbles all over.
  2. Cool the mixture, then add flour, cinnamon, salt, and cloves.
  3. Dissolve soda in warm water and add to the mixture, stirring well.
  4. Pour the batter into a baking pan and bake for 40 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  5. Frost the cake with brown sugar frosting after baking and cooling.
