Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using a mix of cheeses such as Gruyère or Monterey Jack along with the Cheddar. You can substitute the bread with whole grain or gluten-free options if desired. Adding a dash of hot sauce can elevate the flavor profile. Ensure the casserole is tightly pressed to help it rise uniformly when baking.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the casserole hot, garnished with fresh herbs like chives or parsley. It pairs wonderfully with a light salad for a balanced meal or can be enjoyed as a hearty breakfast alongside Latkes (Potato Pancakes)(Makes 12 Pancakes; Breakfast-Brunch). This dish is perfect for brunch gatherings or family dinners.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place individual portions in the microwave or cover the entire casserole with foil and bake at 325°F (160°C) until warmed through, about 20-25 minutes. This maintains its creamy texture.
