Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 5 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper
  • 1 qt. tomatoes, put through blender
  • 3 (15 oz.) cans chili beans
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/4 c. plain cornmeal

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet and drain excess fat.
  2. Add the cooked meat and onion to a pot along with the tomatoes, chili beans, chili powder, salt, garlic powder, red pepper, and beef bouillon cubes.
  3. Cook the mixture until everything is heated through and flavors meld, about 20 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the plain cornmeal with a little water to form a slurry.
  5. Stir the cornmeal mixture into the chili and cook for an additional 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chili thickens.
