  • 1 1/2 c. quick cooking oats
  • 1 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • pepper to taste
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 can Franco-American beef gravy

Instructions

  2. Form into nice, thick patties.
  3. Saute the patties in butter on low-to-medium heat until browned on the outside.
  4. Simmer the patties on low for about 30 minutes.
  5. Add beef gravy and serve with mashed potatoes or on burger buns.

Tips & Substitutions

For a flavorful twist, consider adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce or some minced garlic to the meat mixture. If you prefer a lighter option, substitute half of the ground beef with ground turkey. Make sure to use quick cooking oats for the best texture. If you want to speed up the cooking process, you can also cook the patties on a grill instead of sautéing them.

Serving Suggestions

These Fancy Burgers are perfect served with creamy mashed potatoes and a drizzle of the savory beef gravy. For a casual twist, serve them on burger buns topped with your favorite condiments. Pair these burgers with a refreshing side salad or some crispy Texas Style Beans for a complete meal.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover burgers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the patties in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side, or until heated through. Alternatively, you can microwave them for 1-2 minutes, but be cautious not to dry them out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use ground turkey instead of beef?

Yes, you can substitute ground turkey for the lean ground beef in this recipe. Just keep in mind that turkey tends to be drier than beef, so adding a bit more moisture, like a tablespoon of olive oil or an extra egg, can help maintain juiciness.

How can I make these burgers spicy?

To add some heat, incorporate diced jalapeños or a teaspoon of cayenne pepper into the meat mixture. You can also serve the finished burgers with spicy condiments like Sriracha or chipotle mayo for an extra kick.

What can I serve with these burgers?

These Fancy Burgers pair beautifully with classic sides like coleslaw or French fries. For a healthier option, consider serving them with a light cucumber salad or steamed vegetables. You can also explore more American recipes to complement your meal.
