Ingredients

  • 4 cups celery, one-inch pieces
  • 5 oz. can water chestnuts
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/4 cup diced pimento
  • 1/2 cup soft breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup toasted slivered almonds
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Cook celery in a little boiling water until crisp done, about 8 minutes.
  2. Drain water chestnuts and thinly slice them, then mix with the cooked celery.
  3. Add cream of chicken soup and diced pimento to the celery mixture and place in a one-quart casserole.
  4. Toss breadcrumbs with toasted slivered almonds and melted butter.
  5. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the casserole.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes or until hot.
