Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together milk, shortening, and sugar.
  3. Add eggs and beat well.
  4. Stir in mashed bananas.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in chopped walnuts.
  8. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
  9. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool before removing from pan and slicing.
