- Cream together the sugar, molasses, shortening, eggs, and vanilla until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, soda, cinnamon, and ginger.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
- Roll the dough into balls and then roll each ball in regular sugar.
- Place the coated dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake at 345°F (175°C) for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are set.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
