Ingredients

  • 3 medium turnips, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 medium zucchini, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings
  • 2 large tomatoes, seeded and chopped
  • 1 cup broccoli flowerets
  • 1 cup cauliflower flowerets
  • 8 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 tablespoon dry white wine
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 cup crushed round crackers

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, cook turnips, covered, in a small amount of boiling salted water for 4 minutes; add zucchini and onion. Continue cooking 3 minutes more; drain.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked turnips, zucchini, onion, chopped tomatoes, broccoli flowerets, cauliflower flowerets, 6 tablespoons of melted butter or margarine, white wine, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Turn the vegetable mixture into a 12 x 7 1/2 x 2-inch baking dish.
  4. Toss the crushed crackers with the remaining melted butter or margarine; sprinkle over the vegetables.
  5. Bake in a 350°F oven for 40 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle with cheese and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  7. Serve with a slotted spoon.
