Tips & Substitutions

For best results, ensure your butter is softened to room temperature for easy creaming with sugar. If chestnut puree is unavailable, you can substitute with almond or hazelnut butter for a different flavor profile. To add a twist, consider incorporating a pinch of nutmeg alongside the cinnamon. Keep dough cold while rolling to prevent stickiness.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Finnish Chestnut Fingers alongside a cup of tea or coffee for a delightful afternoon treat. They pair well with sweet dips like Berry Dip or can be enjoyed with a side of fresh fruit. For an elegant presentation, consider arranging them on a platter with Russian Cream Fruit Mold for a stunning dessert display.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover Finnish Chestnut Fingers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. If you want to extend their freshness, refrigerate them for up to a week. For reheating, place them in a preheated oven at 300°F for 5-7 minutes to regain their crispiness without losing texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of flour in this recipe?

Yes, you can substitute all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour blends or almond flour, but this may alter the texture. If using gluten-free flour, ensure it has a good binding agent to maintain the shape of the fingers.

What can I use instead of chestnut puree?

If chestnut puree is not available, you can use pumpkin puree or sweet potato puree for a similar texture. Keep in mind that this will change the flavor slightly, so adjust the spices accordingly to maintain balance.

How can I make these cookies more festive?

To make Finnish Chestnut Fingers more festive, consider adding festive sprinkles on top of the melted chocolate or drizzling white chocolate for a contrasting look. You could also infuse the dough with a bit of orange zest for a seasonal twist.
